An IDE cable

Here is an IDE cable.

IDE cables are used to connect devices such as the hard drive, CDROM, internal zip drive, and other devices (all IDE devices). The devices listed above are typically connected directly from the device to the motherboard, into the primary or secondary IDE port. The devices are then set to slave or master to permit daisy chaining. The red line on the IDE cord indicates the wire designed for power to travel through. The IDE cable should be inserted with the red line oriented towards the power supply (for the individual device). Some devices have the feature of a small slot that fits a special extension on the connector, this require the IDE cable to insert itself in the proper orientation. Note: IDE cables can have multiple connections on each cable. This allows the IDE devices to be daisy chained.
