AGP
Short for Accelerated Graphics Port, AGP is a new
slot designed by Intel. AGP is new compared to the other slots. AGP was
developed to increase the graphics performance of the PC. AGP is based
on PCI, but is designed with a direct link to the main memory. Instead
of having to go through the CPU, the AGP slot uses a dedicated point to
point channel that can directly access the main memory. The AGP bus runs
on a 32-bit slot, which is clocked at 66Mhz.
