 Computers in Schools

The Changing School

Schools will go through many of the same changes as homes. Computers will allow teachers to do so much more for their classes.  Instead of simply lecturing on a topic, a teacher can download material off of the internet, and then show that to students.  Students will then be able to ask questions to renowned scholars and persons through online communication programs.  Teachers will have access to incredible amounts of information to provide to their students.  Teachers will begin to fill different roles as technology entires the classroom.
Teachers' Changing Roles in Schools
Teachers will begin to fulfill different roles in the classroom.  They will need to coordinate information and opportunities for their students.  The focus will not be on teachers as much, but will be on the information they can compile from the internet.  The internet will provide videos, articles and even chats that will allow students opportunities that we could never have today.

New Technology in Schools
The blackboard of today will be replaced with a giant computer screen in the future.  This screen will be used to display videos and websites, and will double as a writing board.  Each student will have a computer that will allow interaction in class, but will also allow students to take exams and complete exercises - receiving their grades instantly.

In many ways however, schools will remain the same.  Elementary will still have recess, and gym class will still be a mandatory part of high school in America.  Students will still yearn for school to be over, but in truth be unable to imagine life without it.  Technology will bring great changes, but all the basic qualities of education will remain the very same.
