Prehistory. The word makes us think of a bunch of uncivilized men with wooden clubs and overgrown beards, not to mention strangely ape-like statures, parading around in loin cloths made from animal skins, grunting at each other, and eating raw meat. But maybe it was a little more than that...

Prehistory is the term that describes the time before people could write. Instead of writing, they communicated through their art.
