The Japanese warrior, or samurai, was a symbol of military strength and a rich cultural background. Several objects that belonged to a samurai warrior might be considered art, such as quivers and arrows, swords, sword guards and ornaments, and armor.
The term Samurai literally means "one who serves". Samurai warriors were fearless in war and would put down their own lives for their lord. They were members of the socially elite class and educated scholars of classical literature and arts.
