Clove
(Syzgium aromaticum)
Clove is used in candies, spices,
perfumes, and medications. The part of clove that is usually used is
the bud. This can be used as a local anesthetic for toothache by
applying the bud directly to the tooth or gum and chewing on it.
Essential oil of clove can be used in the same manner. The essential
oil makes up about twenty percent of the cloves' weight. The oil is
also a powerful antiseptic.
