To sum it up, the world of witchcraft all began when a new type of medicine entered the world. There were different types of herbs found to be a medicine which would treat different types of illnesses. Towns people would go into the woods, where they would find a "healer" (mostly women) who would prescribe these herbal remedies to treat there various illnesses. Many people were frightened by these "healers" because their were mostly women. Women were supposed to be house bound and uneducated. The Catholic church proclaimed these people to be devil worshipers or "witches". Any people who were said to be witches were burned at the stake. There were unfair trials done to see if a person was really a witch. The town leaders would tie a the "witch" to a stool and drop them into the river. If they floated to the top they were a witch, if they sank and drowned they were innocent. This was terribly unfair for either way, you die.
