Tortures were used in the 14th century on accused witches. They were done after, during or before trials. They were used to "torture" the accused witch until he/she admitted to practicing the craft. Also, these tortures were to get the accused witch to tell which other persons also practiced the craft. After the accused witch confessed, and identified her neighbors, a new set of tortures were pursued to strip the devil out of the witch.
