The Different forms of Tortures which were used were: Gresilons- this is a form of torture which crushes your fingers and toes in a vice. Echelle or Ladder- this form of torture which a rack is used to stretch the body. Tortillon- this torture stretches the tender parts of the body. Strappado or estrapade- this torture uses a form of a pulley to thrust the body up into the air and violently. Leg screw or Spanish boot- this form of torture was a steel boot which squeezed the calf mussel and broke the shine bone. The Lift- this form of torture hoists the arms fiercely behind the back, causing them to dislocate. The ram or witch chair- a seat of spikes, heated from below. The bed of nails- this form of torture was a table of nails where the accused witch was thrown on. Turkas or pincers- these tolls were used to perform a torture by pulling out ones finger nails. Needles- these were used to perform a torture through the sides of the head. The Great Wheels- this was used to hurl the accounted witch accuse the air on to a stony place. There was another from of torture where the accused which was thrown into a cauldron of molten lead or boiling oil, or put into a boiling pot, or fried in a large frying pan. Torches were used to scorch the accounted witch. There was a form of torture where the accused witch was dressed in an iron suit containing an iron tunic iron helmet and iron boots. These iron articles of clothing were heated and used to burn the flesh away. Being forced to walk over hot coal, and was a popular torture. Fire is a common source of torture that was used because it was easily found. Different ways that fire was used was: The accused witch was thrown into a burning fiery furnace, or drenched in oil and consumed by a fire lighted underneath, or thrown in a pit of burning coals.
