Aaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Disney's latest animated movie uses a unique mixture of traditional hand drawing and new computer technology. The look and feel of the movie needed a full 3D feel that needed some special animation. To create this feel a computer program, named "Deep Canvas", had to be written that would put all the pieces of animation together and give the movie a unique feel.
The process included 6 steps to make just one frame of the animation.
- A conceptual drawing of the background and enviroment is done with pencils.
- Objects in the enviroment are done in 3D using wire frames.
- Details(leaves, twigs, moss, etc.) are then added to the wire frames to make them look natural.
- Another pencil sketch is done to define the scenes lighting and textures that will be added to the 3D models.
- Special 3-D objects that define the areas that will remain in focus are added to the scene.
- The last step is rendering the entire scene so that all the items go together and produce a beautiful background.
