The Haunting is too Boring to be Scary

Cast members of The Haunting      The Haunting, a remake of an older movie, is a disappointment for movie-goers who expect to see scary thriller. The script, which tries to relate conversations to modern society, falls short with its dry sarcastic humor. The characters and the story itself are not well-developed;. thus, the movie ends with a sense of indifference and an unimpressed mood for the audience. The only scene in the movie that made me jump is the scene in which skeletons are being found and flung up from the floor board. If I was to write the script and directed the movie, I would make the story based in the time period of the original movie and have the characters be more intelligent and witty than sarcastic and self-absorbed. However, The Haunting is a recommended movie to be seen on the big screen. This is because the movie would be an absolute sleeper if rented on video. The haunted castle and the ghostly special effects are not to be missed on the big screen.. The audience is much more intrigued and mesmerized by the beauty of the graphic arts and the movie magic which went into creating the haunted castle. If The Haunting does not scare you, it will enchant you. I give it a C- for scrip, a B- for acting, and an A for the haunted castle.
