What Can You Do? |
Learn and Spread the Word

Learn as much as you can about the dangers of genetically
engineered foods.
Learn how to shop to avoid GE foods. Boycott companies using
GE foods.
Tell literally everyone you know about the dangers of genetic engineering and the benefits of organic foods. The more people
you get to change their eating habits, and stop buying GE food, the
better you've done.
Start or join consumer groups to label and ban genetically
engineered food.
Buy organic food and locally grown food (support organic farms and
farmers markets). Just as good, grow your own organic garden. Tell others to grow, buy, or support organic foods.
Contact as Many People as Possible

Contact the following people and demand that that GE foods must
be labeled:
- Monsanto at 800-332-3111
- RoundUp Helpline at 800-225-2883
- FDA at 301-827-4420, FDA commissioner: Dr. Friedman -
mfriedman@oc.fda.gov
- USDA at 301-734-7601, Mr. Daniel Glickman, Secretary,
AGSEC@USDA.GOV
or John Turner - john.t.turner@usda.gov

- president@whitehouse.gov
Also, vice.president@whitehouse.gov, first.lady@whitehouse.gov
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C. 20500
Call the following and tell them that you will not continue to buy their products unless they give people the right to choose, by labeling GE products:
- Green Giant/Pillsbury Harvest Burgers (800) 998-9996
- Frito Lay Fritos (800) 352 4477
- Quaker Oats (800) 856-5781

Also call you local supermarkets and tell them you will shop elsewhere unless they stop stocking any GE food, or at least label GE foods.
The USDA

You can also write to the USDA and demand that GE food be labeled and
that organic foods must continue to be GE free. - U.S. Department of Agriculture, 14th & Independence Ave. SW,
Washington, D.C. 20250
Soon, the USDA will publish its new proposals and decisions on organic
standards, and any changes to the organic standards that they wish to
make in the United States. The USDA invites comments from the public
on the issue regarding organic standards. Let the USDA know that you will
not tolerate any change in organic standards. Keep up to date on this through the
USDA web site on biotechnology.
