Monsanto: The Future
of our Food

 Fundamental Weaknesses
Side Effects are Unknown

Genetic engineering is like performing heart surgery with a shovel. No scientists knows enough about the complex inner-workings of living organisms to perform a DNA transplant without causing mutations and unwanted changes in the organism. They are experimenting on very precise and delicate, yet powerful forces of nature, with very little knowledge of the repercussions.

Imprecision in a Precise World

In genetic engineering genes are moved from one organism to another. A gene can be cut precisely from the DNA of an organism, but there is no precision in the pasting process. Scientists are only guessing where (or even if) the desired gene will be fit in the DNA of another organism. Because of this, the new incersion may effect the vital balance that brings correct functioning to the host organism.

Crop Failure Like No Other

Genetic engineering giants, Like Monsanto, have plans to make money by patenting genetically engineered seeds. When a farmer plants his field with the GE cop, all the seeds will have the exact same genetic structure. If a fungus, virus, or pest develops which can attack this particular crop, instead of just some, all plants would be helpless.

It Won't Just Stay Where it's Planted

GE planted land isn't under a dome. Insects, birds and wind will eventually carry GE seeds into not only close by fields, but countrywide. Once plants cross-pollinate they are contaminated. All crops, organic and non-organic, are vulnerable to contamination from GE crops.

 Other Problems
To Much Junk

Although scientists are beginning to understand the functioning of DNA, most is still unknown. 97% of human DNA is called "junk" because scientists have no idea what it's purpose is. Yet the biotech companies have already planted millions of acres with genetically engineered crops, and they intend to engineer every crop in the world.

What's Wrong?

The problems with GE arise from a lack in understanding of the fundamental workings of life itself. There is so much we do not know, yet companies are trying to feed the world, based on a technology which is far from perfected. Many top scientists from around the world agree.
