The Viking flag:
A Raven

The Vikings ruled northern Europe from aproximately 700 AD to 1100 AD.

They were not restricted to northern Europe and their acts of
priacy extended as far as America.

Their large families led to a population boom that was the cause for them
moving out of the Scandinavian area.  There were strong ties
between familes and an argument between members of different families
often turned into bloody feuds involoving the whole family.

There were three major groups of Vikings:
The Danish Vikings
The Norwegian Vikings
The Swedish Vikings
