This project was a very exciting and interesting experience which
I'll never forget. Jason and myself worked well, with a lot of help
from the coach, Mrs. Newnam. Although we are very distant from each
other (I'm from South Africa and Adrian, Jason and Mrs. Newnam is from America)
we corresponded regularly through e-mail. I researched the information
on tourism in Africa, while Jason researched the information on tourism
in America. As I got the information I'd send it via attachment to Jason and
Mrs Newnam. She kept us informed on what was happening and what was
needed. Participating in this project was a true experience for me,
not only broadening my knowledge and interest in the tourism industry,
but also and more importantly, the different experience in working
with someone on the other side of the world.
I do computer studies at school as one of my six chosen subjects ,
where I've learned DTP, webpage design and slide ft Publisher, Paint
Shop Pro, Hot Dog Pro, SST slide show presentation, Powerpoint and
Paintbrush. We also have access to a scanner as well as a lazer printer.
At home I have a Macintosh Performer which runs on Mac OS 7.3.1.
Application software which I used was Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress and
Clarisworks. I also have an internet connection as well as a printer.
Biography - Jason Byrd
Being a creator of Bridging the Gap - A World of Difference has been
truly a valuable experience in my life. I first heard of this project through Mrs. Newnam, my Graphics teacher,
who strongly encouraged me to get involved in this Thinkquest contest. At first I thought it would take up
too much time and I would regret getting involved. I, however, have enjoyed working with my partners Adrian Porter and Shanna
Parker and coach Patrice Newnam.
Biography - Adrian Porter
Adrian Porter recently graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School
in Northern Virginia. He will be attending Virginia Tech this fall.
Bridging the Gap - A World of Difference. Created for the ThinkQuest contest.
