Cold Fusion is basically Nuclear Fusion without having to heat up the gas high enough and loosing all the energy that is required to do that. Cold Fusion is not very popular among the general science community, a lot thinking that it is purely psuedoscience. However, there is some work going into whether or not cold fusion would be possible and how it could take place. The discovery of cold fusion has been the plot of quite a few movies including The Saint and Chain Reaction. If we were to discover a way to create cold fusion, the world have a source of cheap energy that is abundant on earth. About 71% of the earth is covered in water, and the main constituent of water, is hydrogen (the other being oxygen). And hydrogen is what we use for fusion.
