What
lies beyond the year 2000? Future Power

When antimatter collides with normal matter, they are both destroyed. The mass of the particles that were destroyed is then converted into matter using Einstein's E=mc˛ (see relativity). Also, radiation is released at a high level. It would also be difficult to handle antimatter, as if a particle of matter collides with a particle of antimatter, they are both annihilated. So to handle it, we would need a container that had a perfect vacuum in it and could keep the antimatter off the sides using magnetic forces, we could do it. This is similar to the way in which we handle plasma these days. It would also be a very dangerous means of producing energy, if too much antimatter was produced, mass destruction would prevail. It could even destroy the entire world if it was not handled correctly. This is why it may not be that good as a power supply of earth, but it would perhaps be an alright one for space, where the only thing that would be destroyed, would the the ship (and all hands, but better than the world).
