The brain receives information and electrical signals in a process called SENSORY PERCEPTION. Logicians call this PERCEPTS.
Percepts are from our senses:
  • Hearing
  • Seeing
  • Tasting
  • Touching
  • Smelling

However, our CONCEPTS or the picture conjured in our mind when we associate words with something previously sensed - is not exactly the same as the original OBJECT perceived (sensed).

In schizophrenia, something happens in the sending of signals from the sensors (nose, eyes, touch, taste, ears) to the brain. Usually the first sense to experience a distorted nerve transmission is hearing. A person with schizophrenia will hear sounds even when there is perfect silence. Schizophrenia is very treatable with medication. To allow someone to go untreated would produce a distorted perception of reality. Over time false concept of reality.
