PROBLEMS OF THE EARS

Name Description Treatment
Earache: An earache is an infection in some part of the ear. They are the most common ear problem. They can be caused by changes in temperature, going into deep water, riding in an airplane, or other events. There are many different medicines for earaches. If you have them often, you should see a doctor.
Tinnitus: Tinnitus is a ringing in the ears. It is usually caused by loud noises. A hearing aid can help those with tinnitus. Also, in some situations, medication may help.
Swimmer's Ear: Swimmer's ear is a sickness that is common to swimmers. When water goes into your ear and comes back out, there is no problem. However, when it becomes stuck inside the ear, it can cause bacteria and lead to an infection. An antibiotic usually cures swimmer's ear. It can be easily prevented, however, by making sure that water is cleared from the ears after swimming.
Deafness: As you know, someone who is deaf can not hear. Deafness is not being able to hear very well or not at all. Some people are born deaf and some are deaf because of an injury. There is no cure for complete deafness. However, if someone has the ability to hear a little bit, there are some hearing aids available for those situations. Deaf people can be just as active members in society as those without that condition. Deaf people commonly learn to read lips and use sign language to communicate. A variety of products and machines are available for the hearing impaired (such as alarm clocks that flash lights instead of a ringer).

As you can see, the ears are vital, yet can be easily kept healthy. Now let's learn about some of the careers associated with the ears.
