Rowing

At the river

In 1900 when rowing came to the Olympic program, were the matches in the Seine, with a length of 1750m. In the begin were the matches at rivers, and the last time in water were no flow is (the length is now for men such a 2000 meters and for women such a 1000 meters).

Olympic record??

In all the years that rowing an Olympic sport is, are the lengths many times changed and were there many different kinds of weather when the matches were. So people say that it is impossible to say if there is a (new) Olympic record by rowing.

Splash

In Melbourne (1956) was the Russian Ivanov a gold medal winner, he was so happy, that he threw his medal in the air, but his medal came by accident in the lake where he rowed, no one have his medal found. The IOC gave him later a new medal.
