Weightlifting
One arm?!
In 1896 was weightlifting for the first time on the program. In 2 categories. The one-armed weightlifting and the two-armed. The very first Olympic champion was Viggo Jensen (Denmark) who weightlifted with two arms, the second weightlifted the same weight, but he moved his foot and became second.
Weak
By the first Olympics had a official to remove a weight, what didn't succeed. Prince George of Greece, who was in the organizationcommittee duck and removed the weight to the right place.
Points
How do you know who the winner is? In 1896 was it just the one who got the most weight above in a category. In 1900, 1908 and 1912 was weightlifting not at the program, so that was not so difficult. In 1920 was it determined over 3 parts: one-armed pulling, one-armed pushing and two-armed pushing. In 1924 was two-armed pressing and two-armed pulling added. From 1928 to 1972 was it determined by the cast up of the weights by two-armed pulling, pushing and pressing. In 1976 was pressing been carried off, because the official couldn't decide if the execution was right. Then determined it, of the total weight of the two-armed pulling and pushing.
Scandals
The Olympics shouldn't call the Olympics if there wasn't a scandal. In 1995 were 64 athletes disqualified because they used doping. In 1992, put weightlifting in a unfavourable light, because Ibrahim Samedov (CIS) lifted the same as the second place. But he was heavier, and according to the rules he had to been placed lower (so the 3rd place). But he didn't accept his medal, his medal was taked from him away, and he is suspend for the rest of his live.
