Before Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party came into power, were already decided that Berlin might organize these Olympics. The United States of America wanted to boycott, by not to come, but the president of the American Olympic Committee got it that the USA participate indeed.
In Germany was Heinrich Heimler against the Olympics, but Josef Goebbels convinced him that there a propagandaprofit to be got there. So the Olympics went on.
There was built a brand-new stadium, and not the stadium which was meant for the Olympics of 1916 was enlarged. And there came a very big Olympic Village, of 150 buildings. Bigger and nicer than ever was sawn.
The chieff-organisator, Carl Diem, had the idea to organize a torche-estafette between the Zeustemple (Olympia) and Berlin. In 10 days, by 7000 athletes through 7 countries was the torche carried.
The German team had a Jewess, to impose the foreign silence (she got the "Arianstatus"). A number of teams gave the Nazi-greeting (the USA and Great Britain were two of the exceptions). Spiridon Louis gave Hitler an olive branch from Olympia as symbol of peace.
Hitler felicitated all German medal-winners and received them at home. He wanted to present the medals too (except to black people), but that mightn't of the IOC president.
The inventor of basketball came looking to the basketball-matches, especially the matches of the USA (which had a series of triumphs).
When the Olympics run out, was the movie Olympiade divulged, some people thought it was dummy propaganda, others see it as the best picturedocumentation of each Olympics ever.
