For the Olympics of 2006 had announced 6 cities. Helsinki, Poprad, Zakopane, Klagenfurt, Sion and Turin. Sion and Turin were both qualified, Turin won with 53-36. That was nice for Turin, but not for Sion. This was for them the third time they tried to get the Olympics to Sion. Probably had played a part the Hodler-conflict. He (Switzerland) had told that some IOC-members were bought over. And 4 Italians had probably told that Turin would be a good host city (and adapted to the anti-Swiss feelings).
Sion tried to get the Olympics of 1976, 2002 and 2006. All three times it failed.
