The most stadiums and facilities were close to each other, except Mount Allan and Kenmore, about 90 km (about 56 miles) outside Calgary, where the downhill and the slalom have been held.

The weather made again some problems. Because there was a very hard wind, it was too dangerous to do ski-jumping. And through that wind had to be the Norse combination and cross-country-skiing at the same day.

Small facts:

• 5 countries were for the first time at the Olympics: Fiji, Guam, Guatemala, Ireland and Jamaica.
• The bob-run was after the hard gusts of wind as emery paper. After the fourth and last run were the Swiss number one with 0.07 sec for number two. This was the smallest difference ever. The Jamaican team made a big crash, but fortunately nobody was wounded.
• Speed skating was for the first time inside. This time in the Olympic Oval, the fastest track of the world, which had cost 39 million dollar.
