Lake Placid had tried to organize the Olympics since 1962, and finally in 1974 they got it. The most facilities from 1932 had to be rebuilded and new facilities had to built. The budget was 80 times higher than in 1932. This time the Olympics costed 88 million dollar.
There were complaints before the Olympics were begun. The complaints were especially about the place were the athletes had to stay. That place should become a jail after the Olympics. Someone of the press: "Anyway we shouldn't have problems with the safety." But when the Olympics had started, the place for the athletes was very comfortable.
