Sapporo got finally his Olympics, after 32 years. With 1 million inhabitants is Sapporo the biggest city that ever organized the Winter Olympics.
In 5 years preparation was spent 555 million dollar, a big part of it for houses. The most of the houses was for the press, which was 2 times the athletes.
The different opinions between the sponsored skiers and the IOC were at his height, because the Austrian top-skier Karl Schranz was excluded of participating, before the Olympics really were begun. Because of this, the Austrian team wanted to leave the Olympics, but because Schranz self wanted that the team would stay, the team stayed.
