These Olympics had a budget of circa 200 million dollar. The organization had built a special stadium for the opening ceremony, which was demolished after the Olympics.
There were complaints about the distances between the stadiums: they were too far of Grenoble (some 40 km (25 miles)).

For the first time at the Olympics, women had to do a sex-test: it means that a woman had to prove that she was woman, and not a .

The IOC tried to stop advertisement at the cloths of athletes. But when some skiers said they would go home if they mightn't wear advertisement at their clothes, the IOC didn't want to stop it anymore. These skiers had to have sponsor-money, otherwise they couldn't do their sport.

Small facts:

• Morocco was for the first time at the Olympics.
• Germany was joining the Olympics for the first time as two countries: the GDR and FRG.
• For the first time: a woman had kindled the Olympic fire. The Mexican Norma Enriquetta Basilio Sotelo.
