The IOC had officially decided, that there in one Olympic year one host city would be. One city that would organize the Summer- and Winter Olympics. This year it couldn't.
The winter weather wasn't good. There was at one day between morning and noon a temperature difference of 20 ºC. Because of this speed skating was canceled and bobsledding was handled in 2 manches, which normally is in 4 manches.
The 10,000 meters speed skating, was canceled from the program through the umpire. All the countries protested, the USA protested because 'their' Irving Jaffee was first, what nobody expected. Despite the protests were there no medals for skating.
