the Olympic Oath

The Olympic oath is obliged at the opening ceremony. Usually is it a veteran (sometimes someone else) from the host country who take the oath. But how goes an oath?

That is the text of the athletes' oath, but from the original Olympic oath (which was said in 1920 for the first time and became later on the athletes' oath) was the text:
"We swear that we will take part in the Olympic Games in a spirit of chivalry, for the honor of our country and for the glory of our sport."
In 1961 was "swear" replaced by "promise" and "the honor of our countries" became "the honor of our teams".

The Olympic / athletes' oath was taken through:

* the first woman in history who took the Olympic Oath

Since 1972 is there a judges oath with the text:
"In the name of all the judges and officials, I promise that we shall officiate in these Olympic Games with complete impartiality, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, in the true spirit of sportmanship."
We have the texts from the oaths from: S.E.A. Multimedia Olympic Gold

the Olympic Fire

The Olympic Fire was lighted for the first time in Amsterdam in 1928 and since then it has burnt from the beginning to the end of each Olympics. The fire symbolizes the movements towards perfection and the wrestle (say torture) to win the golden medal.

The torche-estafette from the old city Olympia to the host city was established in 1936 (and for the Winter Olympics in 1964). The first time that the Olympic fire had to travel by plane was in 1956 for the Olympics in Melbourne.

The fire was lighted by:
