CDROM WILL NOT DISCONNECT FROM ANY CD

When I install something on CD, or even just use my CDROM for anything, it hangs on to the original CD and it's information when I insert a different CD. I hae to restart to get it to let go.

The CDROM is a basic ACER 56X and I am running Windows XP Professional.

Any simular situations?
