New Power Supply

Recently my power supply quit working on my computer, so I bought a new 500 Watt supply. Upon hooking it up, the computer comes on, checks the RAM shows both primary and secondary ROMs and Hard Drives. Then it just freezes. If it helps any, I have an Athlon XP1800, and now with the new supply it isn't overclocked anymore. Any response would be greatly apprieciated.
