Many teens scorn the idea of nutrition, mainly because they have warped views about what it really is. When presented with the concept, they imagine an anemic youngster picking at a few meager stalks of asparagus. To dispel these misconceptions, I'm going to start with defining "eating healthily".
Eating healthily is simply paying attention to the food you eat. It means making wise and informed decisions about what to eat, when, and how much. Contrary to popular opinion, a healthy lifestyle does not "take the fun out of food". Nobody's going to make you go on a diet of alfalfa sprouts! A healthy lifestyle is a gradual transition, and your eating habits will evolve as you learn. Just as one workout won't take 10 pounds off your weight, one week of eating healthily won't make that big of a difference. The long-term effects are the ones that count! This part of our site has several areas that will teach you all you need to know about implementing healthy eating habits into your life.
