Dental Health
BrushingEvery one has their own brush preference, but it is generally agreed that softer brushes are the best. Stiff brushes can damage your gums and even cause bleeding! Plus, they also can wear down the enamel on your teeth. You should replace your brush every three to four months, and also after a cold or sickness so you that you aren't re-exposed to germs. Most dentists suggest that, optimally, you should brush after every meal. Unfortunately, that type of consistency is hard to keep with a busy schedule, so a good goal to shoot for is to brush right after you wake up, and just before you go to bed. You should always make sure that you cover all of your teeth when you brush, especially your back molars and the front teeth that everybody sees! That way, your smile can be extra white and clean. FlossingFlossing your teeth is very important to your health; it's been shown many times that people who do not floss are often victims of bad breath and cavities. Besides cleaning out food stuck in between your teeth, floss also scrapes the surfaces of your teeth clean of plaque and bacteria. A good technique for flossing is to put the floss in between each tooth and count eight to ten strokes back and forth. Toungue ScrapingA neat trick that can reduce bad breath is to brush your toungue. If you do it gently, you can kill the dead cells and bacteria on the back of your toungue that give you bad breath.
