"The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the
path of surrender, or submission."

The cost of freedom has been paid. Sometimes it has
been won with blood, with lives, but nevertheless it has been won.
The USA has come through wars, hard economic times, and other political challenges to gain
both the freedom and success it has today. However one should not become mistaken; it is not a problem free country. In fact, there are many serious issues at hand. Issues of school safety, crime, drugs, prejudice, and even poverty. There are many concerns that should be looked at and taken care of inside the USA. The homeless,
the poverty stricken, the abandoned, the forsaken; many have been
ignored as we initiate more global repairs.
Restrictions, policies and regulations can inhibit property from being completely owned
by individuals. Taxes and other regulations cause for a percentage of
property to be owned by the government. Yet the USA still offers a way of life that seems almost incomparable. Why? In a letter to a fellow American, Thomas Jefferson
once wrote "...its soul, its climate, its equality, liberty, laws, people, and manners.
My God! how little do my countrymen know what
precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people
on earth enjoy!" The US offers something that is not available to many of the earth's inhabitants: it offers freedom, respect, opportunities, and rights; the
precious blessings of this young nation. The freedom to worship God in
one's own way, the support of rights that humans are born with, the allowance
to voice one's opinion, to determine their government.
The economy in the US is doing very well. Although the Asian crisis, which
affected many countries around the whole world, caused the market to go
down, the USA has regained much of the ground and handled the crisis smoothly.
Currently other countries rely on the USA to stabilize their own
economy, such as Russia.
When it comes to their true inner-heart beliefs and values,
Americans love their country because of what it has, however many changes still need to be made as we enter the next century. Poverty, crime, education
-- these are all issues that need to be
taken care of. America's future generations need to see a country awash in the principles given to us by our founding fathers. Shootings, drugs and corruption have no place in the America of tomorrow. Into the future, Americans will fight hard to preserve their nation. They will remember their founding fathers who started a nation that offered to
people "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." For:
"America is not a mere body of traders; it is a body of free men.
Our greatness is built upon our freedom - is moral, not material. We
have a great ardor for gain; but we have a deep passion for the rights
of man."
