The people of Indonesia are divided by ethnic disputes. Riots and killings dominate the news. Ethnic conflict, discrimination, and prejudice, what seems to be pure madness, are constant. To further matters, the government of Indonesia is equally corrupt, resulting in afflicted and impoverished citizens. Recently, the country experienced an economic crisis that sent income rates plummeting.

Indonesia has a colorful Asian heritage, but their nation has fallen into an era of corruption. Mobs and riots now roam freely, and the economic bust and poverty are equally severe. The ethnic Chinese are looked down upon as scapegoats. Above all looms the dark shape of their government, where it is hard to see any justice and truth.

Yet many citizens of Indonesia are no different than people anywhere else in the world, in that they have a cause. There are still families huddled in the midst of the corruption that promote kinder, more gentle values than those of the mobs. As long as families maintain this greater sense of good, there is still hope left for Indonesia's future.
