"Never violate the sacredness of your individual self-respect."

-Theodore Parker

As human beings, we are born with the ability to reason and make choices. These choices can be as insignificant as deciding to turn on the television or pick up a book. But they also include things much more serious than that. It's in everyone's personal interest to appreciate our rights to these choices, and try to see and understand vital factors in our lives which effect us making these choices, while having an understanding of the guidelines that are set up in the countries we live in. Guidelines defined by the government.

There are many choices that effect our lives and our happiness. Two of the most important choices, or rights to these choices are the freedoms of individuals and the right to own property.

Let's say someone is told to committ and act, and how to do it, and when. They have the choice to listen to this person, but under certain scenarios they do not have the choice of not doing, unlesss the accept brutal punishment - even if this certain action costs lives and the well being of themselves, their family, and children. This goes against their freedom of will.

A perfect society is not one in which a person can go out and, in the name of their freedom of will, kill or harm another person. That's taking away another person's right to life, and to well being. And there isn't a totally perfect society on the face of this earth. But the guidelines that are set up for a nation can have just such an impact on people's well being. One must first decide what they value more: their own right to freedom, or letting others control their lives.

The links to countries that are listed in this section show some situations, on different scales, that involve our rights as human beings. Violations, threats, and harm that go against the rights mentioned above, as others are discussed in these pages - issues that can cause much pain, oppression, and even death. However, we also present other, happier situations. There are many that happen on a much smaller scale, every day.

So, what is the solution to all of this? Everyone has the power, the ability, to choose what their values are. To choose what they value more, and how they value their own very lives. Then they can go on and help in other ways. But they'll have made the decision and bear the knowledge of their choice that will effect their future; their lives.
