
Purpose: Human Rights Watch is an active organization
dedicated to the rights of people around the world, and protecting
their individual freedoms. They give their dedication to standing with
victims of human rights violations, and support those active in the
cause. They pledge to prevent violations and discriminations, to
encourage political freedom, to guard people from inhumane action in
armed warfare, and to help the accused to find justice. They are also
investigators of human rights violations and encourage governments to
take action in stopping discrimination. Most of all, they motivate
people around the world to become aware of human rights abuses and
stand for the freedoms of the human being.
They have eight divisions around the world that are dedicated for
these causes. They also do specific work in the areas of academic
freedom, corporations and human rights, drugs and human rights, free
expression, prison conditions, and human rights in the United States.
Recent Participation: They have been actively involved with
the conflict in Kosovo, reporting and
proving human rights violations and documenting abuse.
They are also currently involved in the war in Sierra Leone, human
rights concerned issues in East Timor, Turkey, India, Cambodia, China,
and many other countries and situations.
There dedication includes current campaigns concerning stopping the
use of child soldiers, banning land mines, stopping enslavement and
gender issues, and many other concerns that are affecting men, women,
and children around the globe.
