All sorts of stuffed native birds and live turtles, chameleons and other animals, native and exotic, are sold in local markets. In some markets, there is also trade in birds of prey captured or injured by hunters. Have the wildlife and products been collected legally? It's impossible to tell, so it's best to leave well alone. The same should be said for many marine curios sold in Mediterranean Turkey. Even though much of this trade is legal, it adversely effects many corals, sponges, shelled molluscs and fishes.
