Muslim Aid Australia
Muslim Aid is an international relief and development agency
working to alleviate poverty and suffering amongst some of the
world's poorest communities. Muslim Aid is tackling the root causes
of poverty through a series of long-term programs such as water
provision, education, income generation and health care. And, by
responding rapidly to emergencies Muslim Aid provides relief to
victims of natural disasters, wars and famine.
Muslim aid works in twenty-five countries around the world.
Funds are generated through its offices in Australia, UK and
Germany. Development work is carried out through its field offices
in Bosnia, Bangladesh and Sudan and through growing partnerships
with local organizations and NGO's, allowing us to respond quickly
to emergencies, assess real local needs and keep administrative
costs low.
A Board of Executive Members, representing a broad spectrum of
the Australian Muslim Community runs Muslim Aid. A board of seven
executives are elected by the members of Muslim Aid Australia under
the auspices of the Life Members of organization (founders of the
organization). The board constitutes of an elected Chairperson,
vice Chairperson, Treasurer and four other executive members. A
secretary who may also be co-opted (by the elected executive board)
in addition to the seven executive members also resource the board.
A small professional staff coordinated by a Projects Development
Officer is in the process of being recruited to take over the day
to day management of the organization.
Muslim Aid receives no governmental agency funding. All our
works depend on the generosity of our patrons like you. As matter
of fact, only nine percent of the income is spent on
administration, making Muslim Aid one of the most efficient charity
organizations. Muslim Aid is working towards attaining
self-sufficiency through profitable ventures like sales, etc.
