list of user added therapies | form for submiting new therapies

There is an innumerable number of alternative medicine therapies in existence. Unfortunately, the AMO staff can't keep pace with all of them. That is why, we have added this section to the users of AMO. We're sure many of the practioners of alternative medicine want to get the word out about the therapies they employ, and what better way to do it than by a global medium that can be seen by millions of people.

After the therapies are submitted via the form below, the AMO staff will review, revise, and validate the information listed for that therapy. In 2-3 business days, the submitters of the information will be contacted either to tell them that the therapy has been published, or perhaps that additional information or clarification is needed.

Once the user submitted page is finally up, a link will be provided to it from this page, on the top bar which states "user submitted therapies menu system." The page will be listed exactly like the other therapies pages with its own graphic, etc.. If a practice contributed to the site we suggest they give us the address of their practice and more contact info. of the practice; we will then take that contact info. and list it on the top of the therapies page along with the contributor's name, so that credit is given where credit is obviously due.

Since the site just opened on September 1, 1998, there are no user submitted therapies; however, we do look forward to submissions from practioners of alternative medicine and avid users of alternative therapies.

Name of the Therapy +

Overview +
This section gives the reader a general synopsis of the aims, goals, and characteristics of the alternative medicine therapy. It tells him or her what the therapy entails, and may even offer a little bit on the history of the alternative technique.

Description +
The description section literally "describes" the therapy, down to the very last detail. It tells the reader the who, what where, and when about the particular therapy at hand. In addition, it may mention important events or people in the therapy, ground-breaking research studies, or general principles of the therapy.

Method +
In this section, the user should find how each the alternative therapy is implemented. This section discusses the clinical actions that the practitioner or the patient takes to initialize the healing process. The method section should show how the medical practitioner diagnoses and treats a wide range of diseases and disorders, and how he or she analyzes the patient's problems to pinpoint the causation of his or her pathological conditions. It may even describe a typical treatment program or a visit with a practitioner of a particular therapy.

Common Cures +
This section is designed to show a list of diseases, conditions, and disorders that the alternative medicine therapy has been proven to benefit one way or another. If you have additional treatment information to add to the ailment, simply write it in paranthesis after the ailment. It should be written like so: ailment (add. info). Keep the ailments organized in the 15 body system categories organized in the form; the ailments need not match all 15 categories. The ailments & additional information you add will be added to the Personal Wllness Profiler. Hence, you will be contributing interactively to another interactive portion of our site!

Application +
The application research section is very different from the other sections in that it tells you how a therapy utilizes other alternative therapy systems in its practice; it actually explains how the dogmas, idealogies, and/or methods of other therapies or perhaps a universal alternative medicine theme or two "applies" to one specific alternative therapy.

Case Studies +
These are real accounts of personal case histories that give detailed descriptions of an individual's experience with an alternative therapy. They all emphasize a positive aspect or two of alternative medicine. Usually they show how the person's dysfunction was cured or at least alleviated by alternative medicine after numerous conventional medicine treatments had failed miserably.

Modern Medicine's Perspective +
What does the modern medicine establishment think of acupuncture? What is the general population's opinion about homeopathy? Questions like the ones above are answered in the modern medicine's perspective therapy research section. In this section, the reader should discover the impact that the therapy in question is having on the medical community. He or she will also learn about the recent trends in the therapy and steps the therapy has made to infiltrate into common practice. This section should also give examples of how the therapy has made gains in credibility and stature.

Links & Resources +
The user should be given access to the freshest, most insightful websites on the Internet. Also published here is information on how to contact different medical organizations, periodicals, and/or practitioners of alternative health care. A great majority of the sites and books shown in this section were used extensively for research purposes. Others are listed because the information found on these websites or in these reference materials is very pertinent to the study and discussion of alternative medicine.
