AUTHORS: Niccolo Machiavelli

Niccolo Machiavelli was born in 1469, in Florence, Italy. Machiavelli began as a politician in life. His ultimate goal was to unite Italy. However, Machiavelli was dismissed from office when the Medici overthrew the Republic. After this, he began writing about politics instead of being in them. One of these works was The Prince, which was an attempt to regain his position in politics. However, The Prince was not in agreement with the Medici. It also outraged the public . This gave him a bad reputation that he was not able to live down during his life nor after his death. When the Republic was restored to Italy he ran for office again, but was not elected due to his reputation from The Prince. After this his health began to fail him, and he died in 1527.
