AUTHORS: Benjamin Franklin

  Benjamin Franklin was born in 1706, in Boston, Massachussettes. He was the youngest of 17 children, and his schooling ended at 10. After that he was apprenticed to a printer, and eventually became one himself in Philadelphia in 1723. In 1732 he began publishing his famous "Poor Richards Almanac," which he continued to do until 1758. As a representative of the colonies, Franklin was sent to England several times to deal with such things as the Stamp Act in 1764. On his return from another trip in 1775, Franklin was amde a member of the Continental Congress. He is most remembered for his part in the making of the Constitution of the United States. He died in 1790.
