SITUATION IN IRAN

After Khomeini's revolution in 1979, in Iran a process of religious adjustment of the laws with the institution of revolutionary islamic tribunal and the assunction of arbitrary measures, often denounced in international level, started: the religious law (the Shâri'a) is now State law.
The combination of the scarcity of qualified judges and the lack of a clear legal system has brought to an arbitrary juridical system, with unfair sentences and no possibility of correcting the inevitable mistakes. In the politic process the person recognized culpable can't defend himself, and the sentenced to death can't cry mercy or ask for the commutation of the penalty.
