Tan Mei Ching received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Washington.
She has won the Outstanding Entry in the Western Regional Honors Conference writing contest, first prize in Just A Moment writing contest and first place in The Jason writing contest.
The short stories were published in The University of New Mexico Honors Review: Western Forum for the Arts and Sciences, and the journals Just A Moment and The Jason respectively.
Her novel, Beyond The Village Gate, awarded the Commendation Prize in the 1992 Singapore Literature Prize Competition, was published in 1994.
