Generation Gap is a web site devoted to analyzing, comparing, and learning from the five different generations of today. Every generation is a "melting pot" of different kinds of people, yet every generation is united in an "age location" in history. Fads, fashion, and politics reflect specific attitudes about each generation's interpretation on life. Many generations have been labeled with a name reflecting their attitudes and actions. This web site will inform you why a generation receives a particular name and why the name is justified. For example, who and why is there a generation called X?

As a student we hope Generation Gap will enable you to gain historical knowledge about a particular period of time as well as gain insight and wisdom from each generation. We hope to demonstrate a common bond between grandparents, parents, and teens today.

Visit Generation Link to find similarities between teens in a different period of time. For example, the hippies of the 1960's expressed their alienation from society by their choice of clothing in much the same way that women of the 1920's showed their rebellion with short skirts and bobbed hair. We want to point out that generations from the past are really not "aliens from another world" as some teens may think.

Our team wants to present documented research on the web site, but we also want to have "hands on experiences" as well. Since four generation members are living today, we conducted interviews with people from each particular period. Every individual has some story that will give students a personal insight on that particular generation. For example, a story about how an outside influence like war affected an individual personally can provide insight into a generation better than most books. We want to have lots of stories from all of the different generations, so please add your own story or tell us your view about other generations.

We want all students to learn with fun in mind. After you review each generation, vote on what you think the Futuristic Generation will experience. Watch as the questions are tallied reflecting the voting process.

The main objective of our site is to help you learn from the generations that exist today. Teens can gain a lot of wisdom from their grandparents and parents. Grandparents and parents can gain lots of new ideas from teens. We are all linked to our past and understanding the link can help our future.
