Fourth Floor
Our second wonder of the world- overcoming height would not be complete unless we make a trip to the most noted gravity-defying vertical structures dominating the skyline of nearly every major city - The Skyscraper. The father of the skyscraper William Le Baron Jenney, a civil engineer, designed the first landmark of iron and steel framing on the Home Insurance Building in Chicago in 1885. Although this building did not break any records for its height, the ten story building did contain features that are fundumental in the design of later skyscrapers. The building was constructed with an internal support system of steel and cast iron. Outside the building had a masonry facade.
