More info on The Palace The Palace software allows you to use and create easy to use 2D environments and runs on low-end machines. The PalaceSpace exists of a large number of various Virtual Worlds with many different topics. The Palace Directory allows searching for worlds on alphabetic sorting (webbased) or topic (in-world). As said earlier The Palace is 2 Dimensional, so it makes often a rather comic and primitive impression . But don't let this fool you! The Palace can be more than just fun. It can be usedquite good for educational purposes. It's possibly the best tool for Virtual Classrooms! The Palace rooms, props and avatars can be created from any .GIF file. This way people can use a photo of themselves as avatar! Also worldbuilders ('Gods' and 'Wizards' in The Palace) can use real photos as 'in-world' room! So you can image that you can easily create a digital copy of a whole school by taking photos of each classroom and putting them in The Palace. There you have your own virtual school!! More about the possibilities for Educational use later. People in large commercial worlds like 'Southpark' (based on the Southpark cartoon series) tend to be quite unfriendly. Luckily this is very uncommon in most other Virtual Worlds, though there are also now and then problems in them.. Gladly most other The Palace worlds are home to very descent and kind people. The Palace does not only offer Client and Server software for different platforms (including the Mac., and Unix flavors for the Server), it also offers something called 'InstantPalace',a Java version of the client that allows instant access to a Palace through your browsers (Java-enabled browser needed).
