More info on Active Worlds

Active Worlds is a combination of 3D environments and the power of the World Wide Web. This means that you can navigate through a fully 3 Dimensional environment while you communicate with other users and browse through the HTML documents that relate to the world you are in or that relate to the topic of that world, at the same time!

One of the bad things about Active Worlds is that it requires quite powerful hardware. This means a Pentium II 300 with much RAM and a big harddisk is no luxury thing!

Actually it's possible to run Active Worlds on a Pentium 75, but.... you will have to look to the 3D world through a very small window.....

You also need a 32-Bit version of Windows (95, 98, NT) to use it. No Mac or other Operating System yet (the server does run on various platforms, like various Unix flavors).

But if you do have a fast machine, it's one of the richest experiences! In Active Worlds you can navigate through a fully 16-Bit color environment with stereo sound-effects and MIDI sound as background music.
