The Triassic Period
The period began for about 248 million years ago and stopped for 208 million years ago. During this time the first primitive dinosaurs came to live and should later rule the earth. The earth was at that time only one super continent called Pangaea ("the whole earth"), the part in the north was called Laurasia and the part in the south Gondwanaland or just Gondwana. The climate was mild, hot or very hot. There were no ice poles, but there were a lot of deserts. The reptiles that had ruled the earth became extinct and new animals took over.
Geography: Laurasia was what we now would call North America, Europe and the most of Asia.
The Gondwanaland included Africa, Arabia, India, Australia, Antarctica and South America, and together with Laurasia they drifted to north of the earth like one flooding island. This super continent showed signs of breaking a part in the middle of the Triassic period.
Plants: Plants which were used to a dry climate like conifer, gingoes, seedbracken, a few conepalms and cykadeoids flourished in the Triassic period.
