Living: The Dilophosaurus could run faster that the small Scutellosaurus and the big Massospondylus. It was thinner than it’s relative Ceratosaurus, and the bodystructure and the very long tail,
reminded a lot of a minor relative, Coelophysis. They both had the winding upper jaw, which is typical for the Ceratosaurs’. The Dilophosaurus had a very fragile head-adornment, which looked like two plates standing upright. Therefore the scientists’ thought that it was a carcass-eater. They also claimed, that its jaws were not strong, so that it ripped its victims apart. The head-adornment could even have contributed to, that the males in a group did not fight, when the dinosaur with the smallest adornment retreated immediately. The scientists’ even claim, that it has been a colorful dinosaur, just like the present rooster. It was also only the males who had the adornment. Very few scientists’ claim that it had poisonous spit. They spitted at the victim, which blinded it, and then they easily could attack it.
Skeleton: The Dilophosaurus had an enormous tail, which were at least as long as the rest of the body. The hind legs were long and strong, and on the feet it had three forward toes, just like on other Ceratosaurs’. The arms were strong,
and on the hands it had four fingers. On the three inner fingers were some very sharp claws.
Skull: It had a big incision in the skull to its very big front teeth. This is normally for all Ceratosaurs, but remarkable different with the Dilophosaurus.
